Treating Irregular Labia with Morpheus8V

Childbirth, menopause and other factors can take a toll on the female genitalia, causing vaginal laxity, scarring, lack of moisture, and other concerns. In the past, women were told these concerns were just a normal part of life after children or after a certain age, and they just had to adjust to these changes. With modern technological advances, Core Aesthetic can help. We will listen to your concerns and help find a way to resolve them.

What is irregular labia?

The vaginal wall is made up of very dense connective tissue. Many nerves link through this area. The vulva is lined by special skin cells, making the vulva more ‘skin-like’ than the vagina, with even heftier blood and nerve supply than anywhere else on the human body. The anatomical structure of the vagina and vulva mean that like other areas on the body, both can have their collagen and elastin damaged, aged, and stretched to the point where it doesn’t bounce back. This stretching results in what we think of as a ‘loose’ vagina. Irregular labia can refer to labia minora (inner lips) or labia majora (outer lips) that exhibit variations in size, shape, or symmetry that might cause discomfort or aesthetic concerns.

To know if you have an irregular labia, you may experience some pain or discomfort. For example, pain or irritation may occur during activities such as walking, sitting, or sexual intercourse. You may experience functional issues, like problems with hygiene or recurrent infections due to labial shape or size. Or you may have aesthetic concerns that may affect your self-esteem and sexual confidence. Most common changes in experience are:

  • Sagging labia: loose or drooping of the labia and this could be due to significant weight changes, childbirth, and aging.

  • Swollen labia: enlarged labia which could be present at birth (congenital), caused by hormonal changes, or result from trauma or irritation.

  • Wrinkled labia: loss of elasticity and smoothness in the labial skin, typically associated with aging or other factors that affect skin health.

How does Morpheus8V treat irregular labia?

Morpheus8V is a minimally invasive treatment that combines microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy to rejuvenate and tighten labial tissue. Microneedling works by using fine needles to create micro-injuries in the labial skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing response, promoting collagen and elastin production. And radiofrequency energy works concurrently by delivering energy deep into the tissue. This heats the dermal layers, causing immediate tightening and further stimulating collagen remodeling. The combination strongly triggers the production of collagen, dramatically rejuvenating the vaginal area, which produces tighter, firmer, and more elastic vaginal skin and tissue.
