VTone for Weak Pelvic Floor

What is a weak pelvic floor?

The pelvic floor typically weakens as you age due to changes in hormones and aftereffects of vaginal births. This can cause a myriad of symptoms including constipation, urinary incontinence, and painful intercourse. Non-invasive, non-surgical treatments include Kegel exercises which are clench-and-release exercises to strengthen the area.

What is VTone?

VTone is a vaginal rejuvenation technology that provides electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to rehabilitate weak pelvic floor muscles. The instrument is inserted in the vagina which emits waves to stimulate and contract the muscles. It helps with strengthening pelvic floor muscles, tightening the vagina, and reducing urinary incontinence.

How Does VTone work?

Upon arrival to a session, the vaginal canal will be measured to determine the appropriate wand length for treatment. The wand will be gelled and inserted into the vaginal canal. This treatment is non-painful and non-invasive and requires no anesthesia. You will experience a tingling, contracting sensation that is tolerable throughout treatment which typically takes around 30 minutes. The amount of treatment sessions needed to achieve the ideal results will vary depending on the person, but typically two treatments a week for four weeks is the ideal for most. Results show within 2 weeks of treatment.

Is there any downtime necessary or general contraindications?

There is no downtime necessary with this procedure in terms of work, exercise, and other daily activities. There can be minimal soreness the next day, but it can be comparable to the soreness that can occur after a workout. Avoid intercourse for 3-7 days while the area recovers.

There are no major side effects–you may have short-lived swelling, redness or sensitivity– but women with hypertonic or tense pelvic floor, and women with electrical implants/devices (ex. defibrillators, pacemakers, etc.) anywhere in the body should avoid this treatment.

How does it help with weak pelvic floor?

VTone technology’s stimulation helps create targeted muscle contractions that Kegel exercises cannot achieve. This helps relieve common symptoms that come along with a weak pelvic floor such as urinary incontinence and unpleasant intercourse by improving vaginal tightness.
